for the simple fact that you can decide you want to go, hit the throttle, and you'll go. Not the case with the S2000. Yes it can be zippy if you keep the needle in the stratosphere, but if you're cruising along and want to pass, or punch it, you'll fall on your face. It'll take a double downshift to get moving anywhere, versus the Z which will pull from daily-drive engine speeds. Now, if you're talking about a track car, get the S2000, throw some tires on it, and turbo it or something.
